APM TMB 80 mm F6 (80/480) CNC Tube Super APO Telescope

APM TMB 80 mm F6 (80/480) CNC Tube Super APO Telescope

Product code: TMB01
Manufacturer: APM TMB
£2049.00

The 80 mm TMB Super APO optics are made to very high TMB specs with maximum quality. This is the finest 80 mm Apo on the world market.

It has chromatic and spherical correction not approached by any competing product. Try any power and any longitudinal focus position, you will detect no false color. Perform a star test, you will discover textbook perfect diffraction patterns in and on either side of focus as described in the book Startesting Astronomical Telescopes, by Harald Richard Suiter. Use a 2" wide field eyepiece with maximum possible field stop and get an unbelievable FOV of 5.7 degrees, larger than most 50mm finders. For wide field imaging with larger CCD and/or 35mm and Digital SLR cameras we advise using the TeleVue 0.80x field flattener/reducer for the best possible results. The tube design is a modular system for the most compact transportable size.

The dew shield with its front screwed on knife edge baffle (to protect the lens from dew) can be fully retracted. The main tube is made of two parts, unscrew the rear part and you are able to use a binoviewer for low power wide field observing without the need of a barlow lens or optical path corrector. For the 2" focuser we use perhaps the world's best - Starlight Instruments' Feather Touch with brass compression ring and internal brake. This focuser has a high loading capacity, can be locked and offers a 1:10 fine focusing mechanism. The tube ring offers two bottom-tapped 1/4-20 inch holes along the tube line with center to center spacing of 35 mm (1.378"). This allows it to easily mount to either a photo tripod head or a stable mount rail. On top of the tube ring we added threads to attach the TeleVue 50mm finder bracket, or TeleVue Starpointer or Starbeam or Sol-Searcher finder.
