It is truly no exaggeration to say that the LT-42WX70 is special TV made for digital SLR camera users. A digital photograph displayed on the large 42-inch screen with faithfully reproduced colours is not only impressive but also provides an added sense of accomplishment and satisfaction to the person who took the original image.

The LT-42WX70 features a colour space that is wider than an HDTV and depending on the source signal - video or stills - the user can select from a colour mode of Wide (the TV's colour space), Normal (ITU-R BT.709, HDTV standards), x.v.Colour (xvYCC extended gamut), sRGB (same primaries as HDTV) and Adobe RGB. The sRGB and Adobe RGB colour spaces are exclusively used for viewing digital still images and if the photographer takes the shot by selecting the Adobe RGB setup, then the same Adobe RGB mode should be set on the monitor to ensure that the image is reproduced faithfully to its original colours. The monitor also encompasses 100% of sRGB colour space (which is equivalent to HDTV for the video signal) as well as a coverage rate of 96% for Adobe RGB. The LT-42WX70 can accurately reproduce deeper reds and blues as well as more vibrant greens, which are typical characteristics of the Adobe RGB colour range.

Differences between coverage and area

Looking at the diagram below, if we take the blue triangle as Adobe RGB and the yellow triangle as a TV's colour space, the areas of both triangles are the same, so 100%. However because the yellow one doesn't cover the entire blue space, overlapping area is only about 90% coverage. The LT-42WX70 has an area ratio of 117% for sRGB and 100% for Adobe RGB.

Individual Gamma Curve Adjustment Prior to Shipping

JVC's original Individual Gamma Adjust System calibrates each panel's grayscale tones to gamma 2.2, ensuring the display of consistent and faithful colour reproduction regardless of the set or manufactured lot. This extra benefit was incorporated because colour consistency between the source and display is essential when reproducing photos that are taken on digital SLR cameras or video from different sources.

The gamma curve for each primary colour (R/G/B) has to be accurate to ensure correct white balance and gradations. Reproduction is faithful to the original.

"Photo Pro" Preset - Optimally Designed for Displaying digital SLR Photographs

The LT-42WX70 features six presets that can store user-preference picture modes to ensure higher picture quality for both movies and stills. Of the six presets, "Photo Pro" Preset is designed for displaying digital SLR camera images to enable the faithful and accurate reproduction of the source image.

Approach to design

By separating the tuner from the display, the LT-42WX70 has realised a slim cabinet that is only 4.25cm in depth and weighs a mere 12.1kg*. What's more, the TV features a stylish black leather-like texture on its slim bezel that also helps to reduce unnecessary glaring. The flat rear panel finished in metallic silver without any visible assembly screws** or vents creates an attractive design and allowing for greater placement flexibility. To support the monitor, a stand with a centre pillar that curves toward the front of the panel is supplied. The stand features a 3-step height adjustment to further broaden installation possibilities and the TV can also be easily removed from the stand for installation on a ceiling or wall. In addition, the monitor comes equipped with a slim detachable stereo speaker that runs along the bottom of the panel. If an external sound source is to be used, the speaker module can be removed, giving the monitor an even sleeker, cleaner appearance. Eco-friendly Approach

The LT-42WX70 is friendly to the environment in many ways. For instance, compared to a conventional TV that weighs about 22kg the mass of the monitor alone has been reduced by 40%, use of plastics has been reduced by 10% in volume, and packaging volume has been reduced by 33% along with 14% less packaging material. All of such reductions help cut down on CO₂ emissions.

TU-CX100 HD Digital/Analogue Tuner Box*

The LT-42WX70 has a matching HD digital/analogue tuner box (TU-CX100) that hooks up the monitor via an HDMI cable for connecting it to external devices or making it capable of receiving different broadcasting systems including HD digital terrestrial. Designed to dock with the monitor with its cables hidden, this tuner box provides a clean, integrated system appearance. And installation possibilities can be further expanded by positioning the tuner box and display separately.

The tuner box can be positioned horizontally or vertically on a table or even hung from the wall. Touch sensor operation buttons on the tuner box are designed to rotate in the correct orientation depending on how the box is positioned. The tuner box is sold separately as many households already own digital set-top boxes for receiving broadcasting.
