StarShoot Deep Space CCD Monochrome Imager II
- A monochrome camera with separate Red, Green, Blue and Luminance filters yields superior astrophotos
- The SSDSMI-II utilizes a Sony monochrome CCD with a 752x582 pixel array for higher sensitivity
- SSDSMI-II also excels for narrow-band imaging with specialized filters such as H-alpha, SII, and OIII
- SSDSMI-II has thermoelectric cooling (TEC) to reduce electronic noise for better-quality images
The best color astrophotos are composed from shots taken with a monochrome camera through separate Red, Green, Blue, and Luminance (LRGB) filters. This "tri-color" technique leverages the CCD chip's full sensitivity and resolution, and gives you greater flexibility in processing than you get with single-shot color images.
With the StarShoot Deep Space Monochrome Imager II ("SSDSMI-II") and a set of LRGB filters (sold separately), you will be on the cutting edge of imaging technology, using the same technique professional astronomers employ to create dazzling portraits of galaxies, nebulas, star clusters, and planets.
Designed for intermediate and avid amateur astronomers, the SSDSMI-II utilizes a 1/2" format Sony monochrome CCD with a 752x582 pixel array. It provides higher sensitivity and resolution than the SSDSIC-II's (#52080) color CCD chip. The monochrome camera also excels for narrow-band imaging with specialized filters such as H-alpha, SII, and OIII. And it makes a highly sensitive autoguider.
Unlike the competition's similar camera, our SSDSMI-II has active thermoelectric cooling (TEC), which dramatically reduces electronic noise for better-quality images. The included MaxIm DL Essentials software provides an easy interface for focusing, capturing, batch processing, and stacking multiple exposures, and even autoguiding with a second camera.
Power for the camera is supplied through your computer's high-speed USB 2.0 port via the included 10' USB 2.0 cable. The TEC system requires two D-cell batteries, not included. One-year limited warranty
