The Teegul Sky-Patrol III (TG-SP3) mount offers a light and effective equatorial base to travel with a small telescope.

The TG-SP3 is a very modular unit. It is made of a rigid one-arm fork mount motorized in right ascension axis, ideal for example for FS-60CB refractor. The handbox, integrating 6V compartment, is included.

An additional kit makes it possible to use the TG-SP3 with other light telescopes (under 3kg weight). This kit can be bought with the TG-SP3 mount as a package or in a second time, according to end user needs. This kit includes a counterweight shaft and a counterweight in order to transform TG-SP3 base into a true German mount. Using this kit will give you some clearance on both axis, RA and DEC, allowing the assembly of longer telescope OTAs.

Standard assembly

Modularity is the keyword of the Teegul Sky-Patrol III mount. Very compact, entirely dismountable and easily transportable, it is definitely a multi-purpose tool for the traveler. The standard version can be fixed on a classical photo tripod via a Kodak 1/4-25" screw, without having to use any other accessory.
Low clearance makes it possible to fix a SLR/DSLR camera or a short OTA, without requiring any balancing. The polar alignment is carried out simply by inclining the tripod or by adding an optional equatorial wedge (item #TSV60100, see opposite picture). The integrated motor drive with handbox ensures a traditional equatorial tracking. The mount is equipped with knobs allowing slow motions in both axes.

Assembly with optional counterweight

In order to install the counterweight kit, you will have to change position of the various TG-SP3 units. Indeed, it is possible to assemble/dismount all the mount elements in order to modify its configuration. This configuration's change makes it possible to obtain a true small compact equatorial mount, able to accept small telescope OTAs up to 3kg.
As on the standard assembly, polar alignment is possible by either using an adaptation head with adjustable latitude (#TSK60100, see opposite picture) or an 45° equatorial wedge (#TSV60100).

Handbox

Motor drive has been redesigned between TG-SP2 and TG-SP3 versions, with a new handbox, more functional, which not only makes it possible to control the integrated motor in RA but also includes other mount basic functions such as the adjustment of slewing speeds within the Northern or Southern hemisphere. Mount power supply is provided by 6V batteries that are located in a dedicated case inside the handbox (batteries are not provided).

To carry out a precise polar alignment of the Teegul Sky-Patrol III (no matter which model), Takahashi proposes this polar finder, to be fixed on the side of the mount. It is equipped with an extremely precise reticle and alignment screws.

Counterweight Kit

In its initial version, the TG-SP3 can support light OTAs, like FS-60 type. If you wish to carry heavier telescope OTA, up to 3 kg, it is strongly recommended to equip Teegul with a counterweight (and counterweight shaft), in order to balance the assembly perfectly and not to force on the drive motor. Moreover, this new configuration makes it possible to obtain a better clearance on both axes, in particular to reach the zenith point.

Teegul Adjustable Adapter for Tripod

The elevation adjustment of Teegul mount during the polar alignment procedure is carried out either by adjusting the height of the tripod leg on which the mount is fixed, or by regulating the elevation of this adjustable adapter. It is equipped with a Kodak screw at its base and on top. A knurled with socket head screw makes it possible to block the elevation when the alignment is finished.

Equatorial Wedge for Teegul Mount

This equatorial wedge offers a fix slope of 45°; the additional adjustment with the latitude of the location is carried out by acting on the height of the tripod leg on which mount is fixed. The main advantage is the extreme stability of the assembly, without any flexion, which allows the use of mount in real equatorial mode (with counterweight) up to its maximum loading capacity.

Camera Adapter for Teegul Mount

Teegul can be easily converted into photographic equatorial mount using this support. It will replace the base usually used for the installation of the tube ring. It thus becomes possible to carry out images, without guiding, with SLR/DSLR or CCD cameras equipped with short focal length lenses. This is ideal for amateurs of constellations and stellar wide fields.
